Measure

Assessments

Assessments are a key part of TrackZero where the main data entry takes place. The Assessments interface consists of three primary panels:

  1. Category Selection Panel (Left)
  2. Data Entry Panel (Middle)
  3. Support & Help Panel (Right)

Category selection panel (left)

The left-hand panel allows users to navigate different categories based on the selected assessment type. For the GHG emissions assessment, the main categories include:

  • Scope 1 - Direct Emissions (e.g., fuel combustion, vehicles)
  • Scope 2 - Purchased Energy (e.g., electricity, heat & steam)
  • Scope 3 - Value Chain Emissions (optional)

Users can click on a category to access specific data entry questions.

Data entry panel (middle)

The middle panel is where users input emissions data. This consists primarily of questions, which may include:

  • Yes/No navigation questions
    • If No is selected, the system skips to the next question.
    • If Yes is selected, additional sub-questions appear for data entry.
  • Data Entry Fields
    • Depending on the question, users may enter data such as:
      • Energy consumption (e.g., kWh of electricity)
      • Business travel expenses
      • Fuel usage (e.g., litres of diesel)
    • Some questions allow users to select their preferred data entry method (e.g., business travel can be reported by fuel, by distance, or by spend).

Smart Import

If a question supports it, users can upload a file (an invoice, bill, or statement) and TrackZero will use AI to identify the relevant data and turn it into line items to review. The file is sent to OpenAI for processing — the upload area tells users this before they upload.

Once processing finishes, a status moves from pending to processing to success (or error), and a Smart Import Preview opens showing each extracted row: identifier, value, total emissions, mapped activity, unit, and a confidence score. Review each row, adjust the mapped activity if needed, and select Import selected to bring the confirmed rows in. If the results aren't quite right, tell TrackZero what to improve and select Run Reprocess to try again.

Answer accuracy

For most questions, users must rate the accuracy of their answer:

  • Accurate – Actual data is available.
  • Estimate – The value is calculated based on available data.
  • Unable to Answer – Users must select a reason: No Data Collection in Place, Data Unavailable from Third Parties, Insufficient Internal Resources, Data Exists but is Incomplete, or Other.

Not every question shows an accuracy rating, since it depends on how the question is configured. Users can also add reasoning or sources in a text box alongside their accuracy rating.

Supporting files

Users can upload supporting files (e.g., invoices, energy bills) for auditing and compliance purposes.

Team notes

A dedicated Notes section allows team members to add internal comments that won't appear in reports.

At the bottom of the panel, users can:

  • Back – Return to the previous question.
  • Skip for Now – Save progress and revisit later.
  • Confirm & Continue – Submit the answer and move to the next question.

Support & help panel (right)

The right-hand panel provides additional guidance and support for users.

Resources & guidance

  • Some questions include video explainers and downloadable guides for additional context.

Delegation

  • Users can delegate a question to a specific team member.
  • Clicking the "Delegate this question" button opens a pop-up to select an existing user or invite a new one.

Ask an expert

  • Users can request help from the TrackZero Sustainability Team or their partner organisation.
  • Clicking "Ask an Expert" opens a question thread in the middle panel.
  • Experts reply within the thread, and users can respond directly.

Contact support

  • Users can also contact TrackZero Support or Report a Bug.

Scope identification

At the bottom of the Support Panel, users can see which GHG Scope (1, 2, or 3) the question relates to.

This structured three-panel system ensures that users can efficiently enter emissions data, seek guidance, and collaborate within TrackZero.
