Measure
Overview
The Measure section in TrackZero allows users to track, enter, and manage emissions data to measure their carbon footprint. This section includes tools for setting up reporting years, entering emissions data through assessments and the ledger, and viewing an organisation’s footprint over time.
Accessing measure
To access the Measure section, click on Measure in the top navigation bar. This will open the main Measure page, where you can manage reporting years, organisational metrics, emissions assessments, and footprint analysis.
Features in the measure section
Setting up your reporting year
Before entering emissions data, you need to define your reporting year. This ensures that all emissions data is categorised correctly for tracking and reporting purposes.
Setting up sites
Sites represent physical locations where emissions data is collected. These can include:
- Individual buildings
- Offices
- Operational sites
Organisation metrics
The Organisation's Annual Metrics card summarises the annual metrics entered for each site in the selected reporting year:
- Total Revenue (£)
- Total Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Staff
- Total Floor Space (sqm)
Each figure shows how many sites are contributing to it, and together they help determine key intensity ratios like CO₂ per employee or CO₂ per £ of revenue.
Note: these totals are calculated automatically from figures entered per site — select the Metrics icon next to a site in the Emissions Assessments table below to open Site Annual Metrics and update that site's figures for the reporting year.
Measuring emissions in historical years
Users can enter emissions data for previous years, allowing them to track progress and compare historical performance.
Emissions assessments
The Emissions Assessments section is the primary way to enter emissions data in TrackZero. After setting up your sites, reporting years, and organisation metrics, click Add Entry to create one — see How do I add an emissions assessment? for the full steps.
How to add a compliance assessment
Compliance Assessments are a different type of assessment used to evaluate an organisation’s policies, procedures, and activities against predefined compliance criteria. See How do I add a compliance assessment? for the full steps — not all licences include this feature.
Viewing your footprint
The Footprint section in Measure allows users to:
- View annual emissions trends.
- Analyse emissions by Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3.
- Filter emissions data by site and year.
Using the ledger
The Ledger provides an alternative way to enter emissions data. Unlike assessments, which guide users with supporting information, the ledger is designed for quick data entry in a structured format.
Verification
Once you've completed a reporting year, you can invite an independent verifier to review your data from Measure > Verification — see Verification for details.
TrackZero is continually adding new features to enhance the Measure section and improve the emissions tracking experience.
